ELA Reflection These essays satisfied me the most because I had the most fun with them and these are the ones that I tried my hardest on, and put a lot of effort in to. I have grown in several ways(.) (T)the main way (I grew was)is I don’t make any big mistakes like I used to, and I also have a lot(much) more variety in my writing. It has also improved the length of my writing and the different uses of grammar techniques and variations. I’m going to, hopefully, improve a lot in school because my writing has been a lot more creative and fluent, and all of my writing assignments in the future will be even better than the ones I wrote this year. I don’t know how this will affect me in life yet because I really don’t have a life yet. So I can(')t decide or even try to know how it will affect me as a writer. Technology has certainly helped me with my writing but I haven’t grown off of it,(.) we could research things we needed without going to the lab and we could do it faster and easier than books. “A round man cannot be expected to fit in a square hole right away. He must have time to modify his shape.” ~ Mark Twain This quote relates to me because what I think it means is that nobody can do something perfect their first time, just like my writing is improving. I’m not the best writer, so it takes time so get better, just like you have to modify your shape.
1. I would say the Civil War is the most interesting to me because it was a fight for America between America. More Americans died in that war than any other war ever fought. The Civil War was mainly caused by the debate on slavery between the n(N)orth and the s(S)outh. The Civil War was really a bunch of different battles fought all around the United States. The s(S)outh didn’t want slavery to be abolished but the n(N)orth did, and that’s why they ended up fighting for years until Abraham Lincoln, who was president at the time, wri(o)te and signed the Emancipation Proclamation which was designed to end slavery. So eventually after years of fighting the number of slaves slowly decreased and slavery was ended thanks to Abraham Lincoln.
2. Abraham Lincoln was most interesting to me because he had a huge impact on the country and the world. If he was never elected president then slavery could still be happening today. He was the 16th president and he was one of the greatest leaders because he stopped one of the greatest tragedies in America. He was threatened all the time with death letters and insults but that never stopped him. So I guess he showed me that you should do what’s right and what’s best for other people.
3. “We are not makers of history. We are made by history.”~ Martin Luther King, Jr. This quote shows why it’s important to know history because if we didn’t know about our past then we couldn’t have the findings or information that we do today. I think this quote means that we don’t find or discover history, it finds us. If everything that happened in the past were different then our whole world would be different, so everything is made by history, we don’t make it.
4. I think it’s very important to know history because it can help you in H(h)igh S(s)chool, C(c)ollege and in your career. If you’re trying to go to a certain college if you have a lot of historical work and background then you have a higher chance of getting in. There are a lot of jobs that require intelligence in history or social studies. So the more history you’re in touch with the more you can know about the world and about the past and that can help in a lot of situations.
1. Well over the three years at JMMS I have gotten better acquainted with the teachers and students, and my work quality and work ethics have improved. The improvements of my social skills are greatly important because I’m not afraid to ask questions or get help if I need it. My maturity has improved as well, and being mature is a great aspect needed for high school because (if) you’re more responsible, you’re more cooperative and more independent(.) and(And) those are all opinionated(get rid of opinionated) key factors for high school.
2. First off I think working collaboratively is very helpful and needed in schools, not just because its fun but because it brings more socialization and realistically better quality work. When I’m working in a group I usually tell people what to do and how to do the assignment. I also make sure that everybody does his or her part and the assignment is finished on time and done well. I also keep everybody working and make sure everyone is doing something.
3. I most likely would not do anything differently for example, I was getting good grades and doing well then a (???????)
4. Really good advice (for incoming 6th graders) would be to not wait until the last minute to do work, because in middle school it won(')t work. More advice would be to go in for help if you need it because, my grades started to slip because I didn’t understand certain topics, so asking for help is a very smart thing to do.
5. My high school is going to be Granite h(H)ills h(H)igh (S)school; I plan on playing football for 3 years and joining many clubs. I don’t know about my classes or future yet. I will also play other sports like maybe track and field or soccer. I will take Spanish1/2 and when I’m a junior I will take Spanish3/4. I truly hope to learn Italian and to join ASB. Track and Field is composed of many different sports like running, pole vault, jumping, and throwing. ASB is who puts together all of the school activities and helps the school run smoother.
6. (In four years)I will see a mature person who has grown a lot threw(through) my school yend(?) I’m doing that now. So I wouldn’t do anything differently besides maybe try to stay out of trouble that time because I got in quite a bit of trouble. I’ve done well at Joan MacQueen, so I wouldn’t change anything else.ars.(?) I will have gotten all the necessities I will need for the real world. I don’t know what my future plans will be now or even maybe then, but I know that I will be accomplished and successful in life. School is one of the most important things in life and it will be one of the greatest experiences I will ever go through.
7. I would focus on getting good grades and doing well in school, and keeping the planet safer and cleaner. I will do all my work and try hard and I will volunteer a lot more and start recycling more often. It (w)ill make me more responsible and caring and it will make not just the planet cleaner but our country and communities safer and cleaner as well.
