2. Out of the people we’ve studied this year, the most interesting person we’ve learned about is probably Abraham Lincoln. He was a great president and he kept the North and South from splitting apart. He made such a big impact on America. Without him, North(ern) and South(ern) America would not (be) how they are today.

Portfolio Summary Questions
1. Some characteristics that I show that (p)rove I am ready for high school would be maturity, higher skill levels, and organization. Maturity is probably the biggest and most important. High school is so much different and it would surely be a huge help if you were mature enough to take on the struggles. Also, these past years have given me knowledge that will be needed for further life and high school. Lastly, organization.(That is a fragment...you need to complete the sentence) I am already a very neat and organized person, but this year has helped. I’m also in AVID and that plays a big role in organization as well.
2. When working collaboratively, I bring leadership, hard working skills, determination, and cooperation. I try my hardest to make everyone get along and all do their part(s) and still get the job done. I bring leadership to the group, but I do it without being bossy.
3. If I could go back and redo the past 3 years of middle school(,) I would try to change the 3 quarters out of all my years here that I didn’t get straight A’s. I would want to make sure I got straight A’s all 3 years and just try a little harder so I could look back and be so proud of my middle school years. Not that I’m not proud now because I am very proud of myself and how I have performed over the years, but I would try to change it so I could have straight A’s all 3 years.
4. To incoming 6th graders, my advice to them would be to just try hard, be determined, have a good relationship you’re your teachers, and make the best of your year! You need to try hard and be determined because your years in middle school will not (go) be doing to well if you don’t try. You won’t get good grades or be able to participate in fun activities.(Fragment) Having a good relationship with your teachers will definitely benefit you. They are nicer to you and respect you more if you’re kind to them. Lastly, make the best of your middle school years because after this, it’s high school and from there on, you’re planning out your life.
5. I’m going to try to be involved in my high school by doing sports like cheer and volleyball. I will go to all the sports games and represent my school. In volleyball, I will try my hardest and do my best to make my school proud. Also I’m doing AVID.(,) A(a) program that Granite Hills offers to succeed in high school and go onto college.
6. If I had a crystal ball that would let me see the next 4 years of high school, I would (be)get(ting) ready for graduation by getting all my credits in and doing extracurricular activities. As a person, I would be very successful and mature and be ready to go off into the world and I will strive as an adult. Some plans I have are to be successful and pursue my dream to work in the medical field. It will be a hard task to (undertake)take under, but I’m willing to do it.
7. If I could create a challenge project for myself to work on in the next 4 years, I would try to start an organization for kids who don't get the kind of education needed. I think it would only be right if I could try to get a bunch of people too(to) try to join this little club and try and help gather money and supplies to donate to schools for the less fortunate. I think it would work and it could help out alot.(find a synonym for a lot)

1. The thing (try to find a synonym for thing) that satisfied me the most with(about) my top 3 pieces of writing is that I can tell that my growth in writing has really (improved) gotten much better than when I started in the beginning of the year.
2. I have grown as a writer this year by using higher (level) vocabulary and making my writing more understandable. In my other classes, I have also improved thanks to my growth from this class. I now write with a higher level and use a(don't put a) better vocabulary.
3. Growing as a writer will help me in school and in life because in high school we have to write essays as well(.) and since (Due to) my growth from this year, I will score better on those essays. In life, it will help me because when applying for jobs and colleges you have to write essays(.) and(Get rid of and) my growth in writing will definitely help that.
4. Our use of technology has definitely help(ed) and played a major role in my writing. Just computers in general help so much! They help with research for the essays and then also for typing them. It would take so much longer and be very messy if we had to hand(space)write every essay. Also we got to use our phones for Internet if a computer is down. All of it has really helped.
5. A quote that relates to me as a writer would have to be: “Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing. “ –Benjamin Franklin. This quote relates to me because I want to write very well and would want to write something worth reading. (You need to add more to this...explain what it means and how it represents you)

There was unemployment, starvation, homelessness, hatred and resentment from the blacks, and so much more! It was just so interesting to learn about how they solved their problems and how the blacks finally got a little freedom.
