1.) Montesquieu's idea of government was to have equal amounts of power among three groups of
officials. His idea was similar to England's government which has divided power between the king, Parliament, and judges of English courts. He thought it would be best that way because the government would avoid placing too much power with one individual or a particular group of people. He called this idea of dividing the government into three branches, "separation of powers." Montesquieu's idea of seperation of powers became a basis for United States Constitution.
