perfect school (: by zahra&kelsey
-More interactive, hands on learning. It's hard to learn in an environment where we just sit in a chair and do worksheet after worksheet all day.
-More field trips to actually get a hold of what were learning and see it with out own eyes. Every week or two preferably. :)
-Colorful classrooms, not boring gray ones.
-Higher technology and being able to learn in different ways. (ipads, ipod touches, video chatting)
-Healthy lunches that are still YUMMY (: There should be vegetarian options as well.
-Kids should be able to share their opinions. So more open discussion and not as much having to raise your hand all the time to speak.
-Students should be able to learn at their own pace, and not at their teacher's pace, so that they actually get what their learning.
-Less students per teacher, since many students do not get the opportunity to ask questions in class due to the fact that their are too many people.

Abortion
Imagine taking away someone else's privilege to live; destroying whatever fate it held with strong chemicals causing a miscarriage. Who would do that? Approximately 42 million people worldwide kill their babies every year. That means about 42 million people never had the chance to prove that they were worth carrying around for 9 months. Aborting isn't even necessary and there are so many alternatives. This is a problem that's been going on for many years, yet nobody has come up with any solutions. Deciding to abort your baby may be an emotional, stressful time but what if there was a way that nobody had to be harmed? Perhaps adoption, or simply using protection is the answer. Aborting your baby is painful, unacceptable and morally wrong; if there are other alternatives like adoption or prevention it wouldn't make any sense to not take them.
Abortion is a problem that's been occurring for many years. Since the American legalization of abortion, January 22, 1973, the yearly termination rates continue climbing. "93 percent of abortions occur because the baby was not wanted," (abortionno.org). It is a shame that when people aren't careful enough and accidently become pregnant that they think it's okay to go and have their baby killed. Satisfied with the fact that it's just an "embryo" and not technically a baby yet, many people turn to abortion every year. "I know that my baby is in a good home now, that makes me happy to think that she will live a good life, and I will too because I can finish school and go to college," Megan, a 15 year old high school student, shared. There are also people like Megan that carefully considered all their choices and then selected adoption. If there were more people like her, that are aware of all the alternatives, then abortion rates would surely drop a fair amount.
An alternative to abortion would be adoption. "When I was 19 I became pregnant for the first time. Our thoughts were to have an abortion because of how scared we were at the thought of not being able to raise our child. We researched options and after could not decide. We decided adoption would be the best for our little Cameron," Lauren shared on teenbreaks.com. Adoption would fit anybody's budget and you wouldn't have to abort or take care of the baby. Many people would agree with Lauren's decision since she is only 19 and still has to get financially stable enough to raise a child. Some people would say that abortion is easier than adoption, but that isn't necessarily true. Abortion can be considered quicker, but is followed by extreme abdomen pain, bleeding, checkups, and possibly illnesses. Many people often are filled with regret after abortion, due to them killing their own child. However adoption is much simpler, costs nothing, and doesn't take a life.
Adoption isn't the only solution to stop abortion; it would also be easier on everybody if everyone could simply use protection until financially stable and ready to have a baby. " Protection is not expensive when you consider the possibilities of what could happen to you or your partner should you choose not to use them," a source stated. Most everyone would agree with that statement realizing that it could cost hundreds of dollars for an abortion, 9 months of your time for an adoption, and only a couple minutes and a couple dollars to buy protection. If more people realized that they could even find free protection at certain health clinics; the rates of abortion would surely drop. However, some people would say that it's embarrassing to just walk into a store and buy that kind of stuff. Wouldn't it be more embarrassing getting your partner pregnant and then dealing with the consequences?
When you have cheaper and less stressful options than abortion, why not take them? By simply using protection or giving your baby up for adoption you have both saved money and a life. Hopefully the rates of abortion will drop in the near future, but anyone can help by making smarter choices about protection and considering, or helping a friend consider adoption rather than abortion. We can't just let another 42 million babies go to waste each year, something needs to be done immediately!

Abortion
Unborn babies are dying all over the world every day because of accidental pregnancies. The argument over whether abortion is wrong or right has been going on for centuries, and it is still a considerable issue. Although sometimes having an abortion might seem to be the only choice, there are ways to avoid putting yourself in the position of having to make that decision. “No woman wants an abortion. Either she wants a child, or wishes to avoid pregnancy.” (www.quotegarden.com) This unknown author makes an excellent point about women, and the topic of abortion.
Today, in the US, more than one in every five pregnancies end in abortion. Ninety-four percent of women who go through with abortions are between thirteen and fifteen years of age. For the most part, women and girls are left emotionally scarred. “My entire fifteen year old life is filled with 'what ifs.'” (www.bebo.com) Until the late 1800s most abortions were illegal, unless they were necessary to save the life of a woman. In 1973, the US legalized abortions, but stopped funding them in 1977. Illegal abortions were not always secure. Not even fifty percent of women survived them because, most abortionists didn't have clean tools or the proper education to perform a sanitary procedure. Nobody would want to be part of the other fifty percent who didn't make it. Women were often turned away unless they could pay one thousand dollars or more in cash. However, some male abortionists insisted on having sexual relations before the operation, in alternative to being paid in cash. “I pray to God every night, that during the abortion procedure they made a mistake, and that my baby lived.” (www.bebo.com) This young, anonymous girl, didn't necessarily want an abortion; she felt that her mother was disappointed in her, and wanted to make her mom happy. While some abortions may take place to save a persons life, or because a girl feels obligated to do what her mother expects, the ones that happen just because a forty-year-old lady loathes kids, are not okay.
There are ways that everyone can help to prevent any unwanted or accidental pregnancies, so there is no longer any need to have an abortion. “Abortion is a failure of the feminist establishment. With every kind of birth control in the world, abortion is not something to be proud of. If you need an abortion, you have failed.” (www.thinkexist.com) All that anyone has to do is be more careful about sex. Birth control pills are an excellent example. One pill a day is all it takes to prevent pregnancies in both teenage girls and women. Reading stories about young girls, who chose to have an abortion either because their boyfriend left them, or it's what their mother wanted, will break your heart. “This is what my mother wanted me to do, and if it was going to make her hurt go away, then I was going to do it.” (www.bebo.com) No one, especially an under aged girl, should be faced with that monstrous decision to make by herself. Also, middle-aged women, who feel they do not want to raise any more children, can have their ovaries removed. That way, they do not have to worry about birth control, or unprotected sex anymore. Even though some people think that abortion is wrong, it is legal, and should remain that way for certain reasons.
Some people confuse the differences between being pro-choice and pro-abortion. Senator John Kerry makes a great point when he states, “Too many people in America believe that if you are pro-choice that means pro-abortion. It doesn't. I am personally opposed to abortion. But I don't believe that I have a right to take away what is an article of faith to me and legislate it to other people. That's not how it works in America.” (www.thinkexist.com) Abortion is, legal for assured reasons. Young girls around the world, who end up pregnant because they were raped, do not want a baby that will remind them of that terrifying experience. Therefore, they would have an abortion. If a teenager gets pregnant with her boyfriend, and after eight months of the pregnancy, he dumps her for another girl, she should not be able to abort just because she’s mad at him. It would be too much to murder an almost fully developed baby. However, if she weren't emotionally ready for a baby, then it would not be nearly as horrific to kill a mere embryo in the womb after only one or two months of pregnancy. In Robert Casey, Pennsylvania Senator’s, opinion, “All that abortion is is a question of choice.” (www.brainyquote.com) So in order to help stop the incorrect choices from happening, abortion should only be legal for girls, age 16 and under, and if the fetus is less than three months developed. That, most will agree, is a reasonable conclusion.
Abortion is a worldwide problem, and will always be, no matter what. Be that as it may, there are solutions that we can use to make it less of an issue. Making most abortions illegal, with the acceptation of girls and zygotes of certain ages, will hopefully save the lives of many children to come. This way, you will not always be hearing stories on the news about women who went into this tragedy of an operation, and never came out. Unnecessary abortions need to be stopped, and everyone can do something to help.

Domestic Land Animal Abuse
Everyday, domestic land animals are treated inhumanely, tortured, and slaughtered for their meat, eggs, and milk. Worldwide, the slaughter count is more than 50 billion yearly. A majority of animals raised and killed for food live short and stressful lives in overcrowded facilities commonly called ‘Factory Farms’. The goal of factory farms is to produce the most meat, eggs, and milk for the lowest cost possible. However, these ‘farms’ are not only cruel to the animals, but also damaging to the environment. Factory farms often transmit diseases, not only to the farm animals but to the workers, also. Not to mention the animals in these facilities that are tortured, neglected and sometimes treated brutally. There are many things our world can do to help reduce the abuse of domestic land animals, such as supporting vegetarian and vegan lifestyles, giving tax breaks to farmers to encourage healthy and organic animal-raising, and educating the public on the mistreatment of animals used as our food source.
Animals housed in factory farms are given hormones, antibiotics, and other chemicals to boost high productivity. These animals are often confined indoors to small metal cages, ammonia-infected air, and sometimes have no light at all. The practice of not lighting animal cages started soon after the discovery of vitamins A and D. Farmers began adding these vitamins to the feed, enabling animals to no longer require exercise, or sunlight for growth. In Factory Farms, animals are not even considered animals at all, just food-producing machinery. However, these animals feel pain and suffering, just as humans, dogs, and cats do. For example, chickens have their beaks seared off at a young age to prevent attacking the other birds in their cages. The poultry is bred to grow at astonishing rates, and this creates birds so heavy that they cannot support their own weight, making it very difficult for them to stand. Pigs are bound to narrow cages, where they can’t even turn around, and become crazy with boredom and are driven to fighting because of their frustration. “This [video footage from the movie ‘Babe’] is the way Americans want to think of pigs. Real-life ‘Babes’ see no sun in their limited lives, with no hay to lie on, no mud to roll in. The sows live in tiny cages so narrow they can’t even turn around. They live in metal grates, and their waste is pushed through slats beneath them and flushed into huge pits.” (Morely Safer) People want to believe that animals are happily raised on farms with green pastures and fresh hay, when in reality this is not how most farm animals live.
One important step we can take is supporting vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. This could reduce not only cruel abuse, but also create a greener earth. Even eating vegetarian once a week can reduce heart disease and cancer. Our world can help support less domestic farm animal abuse by offering more vegetarian/vegan prepared items in stores and restaurants, and more oversight and regulations requiring humane conditions for all animals raised for consumption.
Besides just promoting more vegetarian and vegan options, the government should reward farmers that practice organic and healthy animal raising by giving them tax breaks. This would give the farmers incentives to continue raising organic and healthy animals and plants for food. Also, farmers should be educated in the benefits of organic farming, such as how organic processes could strengthen the land without chemicals. Another benefit of this would be that it would help cut back domestic land animal injustice.
In conclusion, the best solution would be promoting and rewarding organic and healthy animal raising. This would not only help our earth become greener, but also help lessen the mistreatment of chickens, turkeys, cows, pigs, and other domestic land animals. “In fact, if one person is unkind to an animal it is considered to be cruelty, but where a lot of people are unkind to animals, especially in the name of commerce, the cruelty is condoned, and, once large sums of money are at stake, will be defended to the last by otherwise intelligent people.” (Ruth Harrison, author of “Animal Machines”) In a nutshell, cruelty and inhumane treatment of animals should not slide by or be thrown out the window because money and commerce is involved. “If you could see or feel the suffering you wouldn’t think twice. …” (Kim Basinger)

Animal Testing Persuasive Essay
“The question is not, ‘Can they reason?’ nor, ‘Can they talk?’ but rather, ‘Can they suffer?’” ~Jeremy Bentham, an English utilitarian philosopher and social reformer. (www.quotegarden.com). Imagine being locked in a cramped metal cage, only to be injected with toxic chemicals a while later. A wide variety of animals endure the pain of harsh chemical tests. Most of these tests are for cosmetics and household items anyways. Animals shouldn’t have to die because humanity’s selfishness. According to the group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), “More than 100 million animals every year suffer and die in cruel chemical, drug, food and cosmetic tests, biology lessons, medical training exercises, and curiosity-driven medical experiments.”( www.peta.org/)
Animal testing affects a wide variety of animals. This includes dogs, rabbits, primates, guinea pigs, cats, birds, fish, pigs, horses, sheep, hamsters, and most commonly, rats and mice. Animals are used in many different tests. Many of which people believe aren’t necessary. "For the medical profession vivisection has been a curse, as well as a hindrance instead of an aid towards increasing our knowledge."~ Dr. John Bowie, a scientist at CAAT (Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing.) One of the tests performed on animals is called the Draize eye test. In 1994, a scientist at the FDA, John H. Draize, Ph.D, invented this. This test is usually done on rabbits. The substance is placed in one of the rabbits eyes, their eyes are then evaluated after one hour to see what damage is done. Due to this horrid experiment, rabbits suffer from many affects including redness, bleeding, ulcers, and sometimes blindness. Animal testing is used to make sure that products are safe for humans to use. However, there are other solutions to this problem than just animal cruelty. "Animal experimentation is not necessary. It is expensive. It is inaccurate. It is misleading. It consumes limited resources. And further, it is detrimental to the very species it professes to be working to help -- humankind."~ Dr.s Ray & Jean Greek, Sacred Cows and Golden Geese. (www.ohsukillsprimates.com). When some people say that animal testing is wrong, others argue, “If we don’t test on animals, how do we know if our products are safe?” There are a few solutions to fix this problem.
One of the solutions of the ending of the malicious testing is to test on animals for medical purposes only. This way we would still have a way of making sure that our medications are safe, but not as many animals would be affected. Only 6% of animal testing is used for medical purposes. The other 94% is used strictly for testing household items and cosmetics. How would you feel if your precious pet was taken away and tortured in horrendous lab tests? This would save needless suffering of millions of animals each year. Too many animals die for pointless reasons.
The second solution to this problem is to use only natural elements in manufactured products. "The reason why I am against animal research is because it doesn't work, it has no scientific value and every good scientist knows that."~ Dr. Robert Mendelsohn, M.D., 1986, Head of the Licensing Board for the State of Illinios, paediatrician & gynaecologist for 30 years, medical columnist & best-selling author, recipient of numerous awards for excellence in medicine. Many scientists agree that animal testing isn’t accurate, so, cutting it out completely might be the best solution. If you use all natural ingredients, you don’t have to make sure they are safe, because you already know that it is healthy ingredients. This is a good solution because not only does it help the animals not be part of the tests, it is also healthier for yourself, and the environment. Instead of using manmade chemicals and unhealthy toxins, it would be so much better to use things that come naturally from the earth. If you can’t find everything you need in a product in a natural environment, why can’t you just use the chemicals and drugs that have already tested safe?

Animal Abuse
Imagine you are an eight-month-old puppy. Your owner is a frequent drinker, and he takes all of his anger out on you. He kicks you, hits you, screams random words at you, and hardly ever feeds you. This is how 13 percent of animals in the US are treated. It’s time for a change. Animal abuse has been happening since the first century. We can change that, by either monitoring who gets pets, or having a license to have a pet.
Animal abuse is a problem and we need to stop it. In Mississippi, there was a black lab puppy named Buddy. Buddy was found in a gas station dumpster with his mouth, eyes, and ears glued shut. All of his legs were broken beyond repair. Buddy was euthanized. This is just an example of the horrors that go on in our world. I think that animal abuse is wrong, and people who abuse animals should get lives and do productive things like getting a job. Animal abuse is a very serious problem because when animals are abused they will often lash out at humans. If animals start to do this, then it will no longer be safe to have pets. It is proven that people abuse animals because they want to feel like they are the dominant one and they feel that they need to torture animals that they know cannot protect themselves.
Animal abuse can be stopped, by monitoring who gets pets. We can do it. According to California Penal Code Sec 597.1, a judge can, “prohibit a convicted animal abuser from having other animals as a condition of probation.” (www.nokillnow.com) Although there are some laws that deter animal abusers from adopting, there should be more regulation and punishment for the ability of these people to adopt. Obviously, this didn’t stop thirty-year-old Otis Dwayne Smith from dog fighting, which in California is a felony. There are some people who would think that it wouldn’t work. However, we set our minds to it, we can do anything.
We can also have people get a license to have a pet. That would work because if you abused a pet then you would be tracked down. I believe this would work because then nice loving pets wouldn’t end up in the wrong hands. If we can do this then we can stop animal abuse for good.
If we put our minds to stop animal abuse, we can change the way the world works for the better. So if we monitor who gets pets, we will have a better chance to stop it. This form is best because it’s the easiest way to control pet abuse. So go out and pet a dog; they deserve it.

Animal Abuse
Imagine getting beaten, tested, and used to fight for entertainment. Animals all over the world are abused and tortured (mentally) mostly because of ignorant owners and greedy people who just want money. There are different types of animal abuse such as overt, intentional abuse, which happens when a person purposely causes physical harm, injury or the death of an animal. Another form of animal cruelty is neglect. A solution to the neglect of animals is to make sure the person who will adopt or purchase an animal will have the correct education to keep a pet. They have to have certain requirements in their living conditions and have an appropriate amount of funding to pay for food, water, and medical supplies. As for physically harming an animal, there’s not really a “solution” to it, but there is a way to keep people from doing it. Public awareness is a big deal when it comes to the stop of harming animals. Now ask yourself, if you were an animal getting beaten, would you like it?
Animal abuse is a big problem, but not everybody knows about it. In April 2007, Michael Vick pleaded guilty for dog fighting. There have also been many other cases of dog fighting, but just because some people can get away with it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t affect other people. “To begin discussing the history of animal cruelty is to go back literally to ancient times. Fighting dogs for sport, for example, has been traced back as far as the 12th Century. For centuries these fights occurred across Europe until the baiting of larger animals was prohibited in 1835. At this point, dog-on-dog combat became the cheaper, legal alternative and the fighting dogs, as well as the taste for the brutal blood sport was exported to other countries including the United States,” said Monica Villavicencio (www.npr.org). Now if more people were aware of these awful things, there would be a lot fewer cases of abuse and especially dog fighting. “The birth of the Internet opened the door for new types of animal abuse to emerge. Among the images of animal cruelty that are available on the Internet are “crush videos” in which people are shown crushing small animals with their bare feet or stiletto heels. These videos are able to infiltrate mainstream audiences because of increased file sharing networks and the growing popularity of websites that display violent videos for their shock value. Though illegal under the 1999 federal legislation later nicknamed “The Crush Act,” it is often very difficult to prosecute the offenders of these crimes, as they are usually able to hide behind the anonymity offered by the virtual world,” said Wayne Pacelle (www.pet-abuse.com) Animal abuse is a very serious problem because animals don’t deserve to be treated like this, and without animals a very long chain of cause and effect would happen. People abuse animals for entertainment and because they can. Dog fighting is a way that people can make money by betting on dogs and the dogs don’t fight until one wins, they fight until one dies. Therefore, the main reason why people abuse animals is because they can.
Then by making sure the person who will adopt or purchase an animal will have the correct education, funding, and appropriate living conditions for the animals. The ASPCA stated that, “The neglect of an animal by an individual is often (though not always) the result of a lack of education and awareness about proper animal care, and can be remedied through education and by requiring the owner to provide these basic life sustaining elements.” (learningtogive.org) Unintelligible people can lack the mental perception and responsibility that people taking care of animals need. ”To continue the unfortunate cycle of violence, victims of child abuse are more likely to become perpetrators of animal cruelty themselves,” said Cindy Adams of the ASPCA (learningtogive.org). This sort of neglect is very important because the animal in this case practically suffer because they don’t have the supplies necessary to live. Some people say that unintelligence isn’t a reason even though it is because most people lack intelligence to take care of a pet. On the other hand, people purposely hurt animals.
A solution to dog fighting and other physically harmful acts is to make the public aware. “Beyond the need to recognize and put an end to animal cruelty for the sake of the animal victims involved, also important to note is the very direct connection between animal cruelty and human violence,” stated F. Ascione, C. Weber, and D. Wood (www.vachss.com). Everyday, there are people making animals fight, hitting and abusing them. Making this a publicly known issue could strongly reduce the amount of abused animals. ”A survey of pet-owning families with substantiated child abuse and neglect found that animals were abused in 88 percent of homes,” said DeViney, Dickert, & Lockwood (www.americanhumane.org). Some people say that dog fighting and animal fighting is a way to make money and they say that it doesn’t affect people around you. That is completely untrue because even though you make money, this isn’t a job; it’s just a terrible type of gambling, which is why more people should be aware of these things.
sydnie's animal testing essay.
Animal Testing
A majority of the population thinks that animal testing is unsubstantial and unfair, although, many people and scientists are for the idea. Every year, millions of animals undergo painful suffering or death as a result of scientific research to test the effects of cosmetics and new medicines on animals. Many people are opposed to the idea of having animals being tested on for the sake of developing new products; however, some people are for it. They think that it' a great idea to test the new ideas on animals before it’s okay for humans to use. This has been going on for centuries now and we need to think of the alternatives.
Ever since the 17th century, dating back to ancient Greeks, scientists have been testing on animals to find out if new cosmetics and medicines are safe for human use. Long ago, animals were worshipped, so what made people have the change of mind and start dissecting animals and running painful tests on them? The main reason is because there were many diseases at the time and no cures for them. They had to do something to test the new products to see if they’re safe. Eventually, animal testing became more profound and more common in the lab, but that still doesn’t mean it’s okay.
Many people are very upset at the thought of animals being tested on. Scientists know of alternatives, but decide to test on animals for a better result. Aaron Loftman, a reporter from Western Animal Rights Network stated, "We have other sources to use. For example, we could use newer scanning techniques or computer models. It's the same thing; it just eliminates the needless suffering." (http://www.animalliberation.co.uk) Many people agree with this because the idea itself is so true. There is no need for animals to be tortured when other possible solutions are available. Lisa Rebarn, a writer from the CAAT (Coalition to Abolish Animal Testing) had said something along the lines of that also. "Why test on animals? It's not fair to them, they can't speak for themselves. We our their voice in this case." (http://www.ohkillsprimates.com) Lisa is trying to say that animals can't talk so they have no say if they get tested on. If scientists would just use the alternatives that are available, it would put an end to testing on the animals and would silence all the people that are upset at the thought. We, the humans, have to speak for them and put an end to all of this.
On the other hand, some people think that testing on animals is inhumane, but would you rather them be testing on humans? Scientists use rabbits and lab rats and many other animals because of their similarities with humans and their short lifespan. They are able to test the new products and then dissect the deceased animal and see what the internal effects were. Scientists also test on animals because when an animal gives birth, they give birth to a litter of 9-12 offspring and for humans, it takes 9 months for a child to be born. But, there are some benefits of all this. It does save the lives of millions. If they didn’t test the new medicines on animals, then we would have never found cures to many diseases. Caroline Flint had said, "Until suitable alternatives are found, this vital work should continue so that hundreds of millions more lives can be saved in the future" (http://www.animalresearch.info). In the eyes of some people, the lives of animals are less significant than human lives and that’s what Caroline is trying to say. The Wellcome Trust also had said, "Research using animals has made an important contribution to advances in medicine and surgery." (http://www.animalresearch.info). This is very straight-forward. Using animals does indeed help us with our research, but some people still think it's wrong.
So as you can see, people have many different opinions on animal testing and we just need to use the alternatives to end all the suffering. It goes both ways, yes there are benefits to animal testing, but we have other solutions that will work just as well. We are their voice and it's time to speak up!

Persuasive Essay
Imagine one day you were going to get married to a person you love, and you were told that you could not because it wasn’t legal. This is something that the homosexual community has to live with everyday. In many states, gay marriage is banned by a constitutional amendment, preventing all gays from getting married. The government takes away their rights and calls them “abominations”. Why would you treat another human as if they were a different species and deprive them of basic rights such as marriage. If we can help the people opposed to it to see that what they are saying makes no sense because they are just blindly following their religion, or show the states that laws that ban gay marriage that doing so is unconstitutional, then this problem can be solved. Many people don’t understand it, and some of the people opposed to gay marriage don’t either.
In the United States, same-sex marriage is only legal in five states. In July of 2010, Joseph Tauro, a federal judge in Boston, Massachusetts ruled that the federal ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional because it interfered an individual state’s right to define marriage. “The ruling gives same-sex married couples in Massachusetts the same right to federal benefits that heterosexual couples enjoy. U.S. District Judge Joseph Tauro ruled that "as irrational prejudice plainly never constitutes a legitimate government interest," the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) violates the protection under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution.” Vivienne Foley, a journalist for CNN, reported. (http://articles.cnn.com/) This is a sincere, prominent problem in the U.S. Not only does it take away homosexual’s basic rights as a person, but it also degrades them as people in society. A person’s sexual preference should no more define them as a person than the color of their skin. Be that as it may, people like homosexuals are prone to stereotype and judgment from society. They are looked down upon, due to a very conspicuous dogma in the majority of the society. Opposing gay marriage says more about who you are as a person, rather than the homosexuals themselves.
If we as Americans could just learn to put common sense and rationality behind our thoughts, rather than just citing phrases from the Bible and blindly following what we our told by others, we will find rights more equal and problems more easily solvable. The monotonous, stubborn group-think of Americans is unbearable to those who are fighting to become relevant in society such as gays. “Everybody's journey is individual. If you fall in love with a boy, you fall in love with a boy. The fact that many Americans consider it a disease says more about them than it does about homosexuality.” James Baldwin, an American novelist, writer, playwright, poet, essayist and civil rights activist. If people choose to be gay, that is their decision and by no means what so ever anyone else’s. If you are going say “liberty and justice for all” you must accept the fact that those personal liberties and rights will be for all. You might say that the Bible says that homosexuality is wrong. What if you meet another person who is Agnostic or Atheist? You can’t force that person into believing what you believe in. “First and foremost, church and state are supposed to be completely separated when it comes to the rule of law in the United States. So the religious argument that God meant for only man and woman to be together has no bearing here!” Brendon Ayanbadejo, Baltimore Ravens linebacker, journalist for the Huffington Post. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/) That is what is wrong with these laws. Putting too much religion in our government will corrupt and bias the thinking and lawmaking, effectively making it useless and unbalanced. The laws while not at all rational are also unconstitutional.
Someone needs to prove to every state government that bans gay marriage, that doing so is unconstitutional. "The evidence shows conclusively that moral and religious views form the only basis for a belief that same-sex couples are different from opposite-sex couples," US District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker wrote on the California gay marriage ban being overturned. (http://articles.latimes.com/) The First Amendment states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." A law banning gay marriage would only come to be because of religious purposes. People can say that according to their religion gay marriage is wrong, but that is their own personal or religion’s beliefs, and should not interfere with a state’s legislature. To say that keeping anyone from marrying who they want falls in line with constitution would just be wrong. While there aren’t many very different solutions to this problem, this one could certainly be managed.
In most states it is illegal for homosexuals to get married. We need to separate our religious thinking from our laws and government. Not only would this give everyone their basic rights, it would give our children a chance to make their own decisions and think for themselves. Whether you’re Christian or Atheist, gay or straight, I ask you to think for yourself and use common sense in your decisions. Not only then will we not be a monoculture, group-thinking hoard, but a free country of individuals who have their owns beliefs and the right to choose who they want to be.

My Essay on Animal Testing

Prevention of Animal Testing
Every day, more than twenty-seven different species of animals including millions of mice, rabbits, varieties of primates, cats, and dogs are locked into small and cold cages, where they tremble in fear waited for the next horrible experiment to occur. “They shake and cower in fear whenever someone walks past their cages and their blood pressure spikes drastically.” (peta.org) All these poor helpless animals go through this everyday and it is horrible that they have to endure this pain. Animal testing should be prevented. Animal systems are completely different than humans anyways. There are many different alternates to testing on innocent animals; progressive researchers and scientists can use human-based brain imaging and recording techniques and not only do these techniques work ten times better than testing, but the animals will no longer have to suffer from the unbearable pain.
“The use of animal testing in cosmetic industry is one of the most important causes of concern,” reported by a researcher of animal testing from (buzzle.com). The quest to find alternatives to animal testing shows that there are people who care about animals and their rights. Animal cruelty, related to the subject of testing, is a huge issue. “Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution in 1859 became the scientific rationale for using animal experiments to learn more about humans.” (psychology.jrank.org.) Since then, scientists have been continuing trials and tests on animals for human causes. Using animals for selfish human motives is indirectly affecting our already fragile eco- system. Trials keep occurring even when scientists already know which ingredients may cause rashes or other unpleasant side effects. Since people keep buying products that are being tested on animals, the experiments continue even though animals’ systems are entirely more divergent than humans.
“Animals are completely different than humans, and function differently, too. It's makes absolutely no sense to test products on animals that are going to be used on humans. Animals have feelings too. Those animals don't deserve that. Not even one bit,” stated by Lauren M. from StateUniveristy.com.
There is no need to experiment on harmless creatures when they do not even function the same as humans’ bodies do. Some people might disagree with these believes and say something like, “What else can we test on to find out if these products work? Do you want to be the ones being tested on?” (aboutmyplanet.com) One of the alternatives to animal testing is the use of computer simulation, which is increasingly becoming a practical alternative to animal testing. “Crash test computer operated mannequins are used for the computer simulation tests.” Internal sensors are installed into the computer-operated mannequins. These tests are similar to human-based imaging techniques, which is also another solution to the prevention of testing on animals.
“Well-known/common instances of human-based testing are found in areas like pyrogenicity, skin irritation, etc.” The instances that affect immune system cells are responsible for conditions like inflammation and fever. Instead of making use of animal cells, the human donated cells are used as an alternative. “The skin patch test, one of the alternatives to animal testing is used in finding medicines for skin irritation.” The knowledge of these systematic alternatives should help us in formulating more methods to prevent poorly testing on innocent animals.
