Karen Kay Baux Vilett Biography
Even though being a successful nurse is important, being a mother is much more influential. Karen Kay Baux Vilett, born on July 7, 1960 in Maryland, is a hard-working, loving mom with two kids. Growing up her parents, always led her to the right path and now she is following in their footsteps. Karen’s memorable childhood, teenage, and adult years were very unique and interesting.
Karen Kay Baux Vilett was born on the east coast, in Maryland, of the year 1960. Her mother, Olga Baux, did not work or drive throughout her life, but her father, Clarice Baux, did both. “I ended up riding my bike everywhere, including school,” said Karen. Since, there was a lack of transportation, especially to sports, she never got to pursue her passion of track and field. “I couldn’t get there so today I make a big effort to let my children, Nicholas and Kristen, do what they want to do.” Growing up she had lots of chores and was always focused in school. She never went to Kindergarten, but she did attend a Catholic school named St. Pius, grades one through eight. In ninth grade she went to Benjamin Tasker Junior High and in tenth through twelfth grade she went to Bowie High School and was Valedictorian. “Throughout high school, I wanted to take a career in nursing, so I took an Assistant Program at Laurel HS,” said Karen. She received her nursing degree and Bachelor’s degree. Karen said, “I transferred to the University of San Diego and got my Master’s degree to become a nurse. I was a very good student.” Since Karen was very intelligent and knowledgeable in school, she carried those traits along and still is very hard-working today. Even though she was so focused on school, her family also went on several family trips.
On Karen’s memorable 13th Birthday she traveled to the exciting state of California. “I had a birthday cake on the plane and saw Kenney Rogers at a concert at Magic Mountain.” Her family also journeyed to the stunning islands of Hawaii to vacation numeral times. “Hawaii is so beautiful. I wish I could stay there forever,” quoted by Karen. Now a day, she travels to the water landmasses with her amazing husband and two wonderful children, Nicholas and Kristen.
Karen Kay Baux was married to her lovely husband, Peter Alan Vilett on August 21, 1993. The charming wedding took place at the Saint Brigid Catholic Church. After a few years of getting wedded and married, the couple had their first child, Nicholas Tyler Vilett, on January 2, 1995. Nicholas, otherwise known as Nick, was a very nice and ideal son. Following the birth of Nick, Karen and Peter decided that one child just wasn’t enough. The pair had their second child on July 16, 1997. Her name was Kristen Nicole Vilett. “I am the luckiest mom in the world. I have two smart, talented, beautiful children and I couldn’t ask for anything more than that,” stated Karen. Shortly after Kristen was born, a medical occurrence struck.
Karen Kay Vilett was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had to proceed into a major surgery. During this tragic time, Peter was very supportive and was by her side the whole time. After the operation was finished and completed, Karen’s doctors revealed that they cleared out as much as they could. Karen and her family thought that everything was fine, but little did they know it was growing back. Karen advanced into a second major brain surgery in the year 2009 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. “My biggest challenge in life was having two brain surgeries.” While Karen and her husband, Peter were in Pittsburgh for the surgery, her two worried children had to stay back at home. After the many days of anticipation, Nicholas and Kristen received an important phone call from their father. “Everything is okay,” said Peter. Those were the most comforting words in the world for Nicholas and Kristen. After the eventful year had passed Karen was healthy and strong.
To this day, Karen Vilett is doing extremely well and continues to do so. “You would have never guessed that I had a major brain surgery last year,” said Karen happily. Every single morning, she stays in shape by walking her amazing Golden Retriever dog, Kona. “I have been through a lot of tough life experiences as a nurse and through health, but it was all worth it because now I have a strong and healthy life and family.” said Karen.
